EVC® Testing Tool
Our new EVC® PVT testing tool has been developed as an additional option on the latest CPT v3 software update to be released shortly, CPT v3.6.9.
What is EVC®?
EVC® (Ellipse Verification Code) technology represents a significant advancement in payment card security. Incorporating a dynamic security code, or cryptogram, displayed on an integrated, battery-free electronic paper display.
This innovative feature provides card-level fraud protection, rendering compromised card data ineffective with each refresh at the point-of-sale, ATM, or via mobile application. This is especially crucial for ‘Card-not-present’ transactions, such as ecommerce or payments taken over the phone.
EVC® Testing Tool
The new Barnes CPT EVC® Personalisation Validation Tool provides a comprehensive solution for efficient and accurate testing of EVC®-enabled payment cards. It enables issuers and card bureaus to verify and pre-certify payment cards with the cutting-edge EVC dynamic security code technology, aligned with the latest scheme specifications and tailored to issuer-specific needs.
This robust testing tool supports all EMV contact and contactless functions, as well as critical dynamic security code refresh tests, ensuring seamless operation and optimal security.
It validates the dynamic EVC® displayed at the back of the card if the cryptographic key is known. A message pops up to ask for the EVC® to be entered from the back of the card, and the Barnes tool validates this value based on card data
Built on our leading test tool platform, CPT3, this is the first testing tool for EVC®-enabled cards. Part of the software update version 3.69, this new feature is now available to download.
