Barnes releases a new version of the Visa GPR PVT Module
Barnes International releases a new version of the Visa GPR PVT Module allowing Self-Service PVT Process
Qualified test tool enables Issuers and Card Personalisation Bureaus in Europe to significantly accelerate time to market for Visa Cards
Barnes International Limited today announce that its CPT 3000v3CL PVT tool complemented by the new Visa GPR PVT Certification Module has been qualified by Visa in Europe to deliver a Self-Service Personalisation Validation Testing (PVT) process for the European Region. Issuers and Card Personalisation Bureaus can now test their cards with the qualified tool and directly generate a Pass results file for electronic submission into Visa in Europe’s validation process – instead of sending the physical cards to Visa in Europe’s offices – saving considerable time, effort and cost. Sending only a Pass file should eliminate multiple rounds of iterations of the Visa validation process.
Barnes CPT 3000v3CL PVT tool enables Issuers and Card Personalisation Bureaus to validate and pre-certify their cards against the latest payment scheme chip personalization requirements and product rules. It is used to enhance quality assurance practises and ensure EMV® cards meet stringent payment scheme specifications when sent for formal card personalisation validation testing. The tool is reinforced with Barnes’ expert consultancy and support services, the tool – qualified across more than 20 international and domestic payment schemes – helps Issuers and Card Personalisation Bureaus speed up Card Development and time to market as well as Quality Control processes.
The Visa GPR PVT Certification Module, to be used for the certification validation process with Visa, complements the CPT3000v3CL PVT Tool used for final Quality Control during personalisation. For the European market, the Visa GPR PVT Certification Module is significantly enhanced to conform to the published Visa in Europe PVT tool requirements specification. This enhancement enables the self-service PVT process, whereby the Issuer or their representative carries out a Personalisation Validation Test on the Visa product prior to deployment and submits the resulting PVT report to Visa in Europe for review and approval.
“Barnes is delighted to have worked with Visa in Europe on this significant development which will make it much quicker, easier and more efficient for Issuers in Europe to get their new Visa cards and other issuer contactless devices validated by Visa in Europe. We developed the first PVT with Visa back in 1999; this new development is significant in having helped make a big leap forward for testing and certification of Visa in Europe’s cards” comments Brian Summerhayes, Managing Director at Barnes International.
“We are delighted to have worked with Barnes International on this additional option for our clients to self-serve their card testing. This will improve the time to market and provides our clients with a new approach to card testing, empowering them to work with their business partners to achieve Visa compliant results, reducing time and costs” Neil Dickson, Head of Payment Technology Services at Visa in Europe adds.
Barnes works closely with global and national Payment Schemes to ensure its card personalisation validation test tool and its certification modules meet the latest specifications and are kept up to date. Each module complements EMV® Card Validation Test Tools, the CPT 3000v3CL and CAT 3000v3CL, by enabling users to run tests specified by the respective payment scheme to validate their applications prior to formal certification.
